Ex-Orlando Pirates striker coach Scott Chickelday has backed Bucs mentor Jose Riveiro to continue with the art of winning with the Nedbank Cup final clash looming large.
The Soweto giants are scheduled to take on Sekhukhune United in the Nedbank Cup final on Saturday, 27 May 2023.
The much-awaited showdown will take take place at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, with the kick-off off set for 18:00.
Having started the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season not so well, many wondered if Riveiro was up to such a big task [leading the Soweto giants to the promised land].
But Pirates fans were more than aware of what type of rebuilding job it would take for any new coach who took the position.
JOSE RIVEIRO’S ACHIEVEMENTS IN HIS FIRST SEASON AT ORLANDO PIRATES
In his first season at the club, the Spanish mentor has guided the Sea Robbers to MTN8 triumph, qualified for CAF inter-club football, and still stands a chance to win the Nedbank Cup title.
The Buccaneers finished second in the South African football top-flight this campaign. They managed to collect 54 points from 30 games under the tutelage of Riveiro.
After the conclusion of the DStv Premiership on Saturday afternoon, Chickelday has come forward to praise Riveiro. Chickelday reckons that the coach he has rediscovered the art of winning titles at Pirates.

“In life, you are meant to meet people. I strongly believe Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro will lead this club back to the greatness they deserve,” stated Scott Chickelday.
“This guy and his team work tirelessly trying to achieve perfection.”
Chickelday went on to urge the Spaniard tactician to go all the way to win the Nedbank Cup trophy. And put smiles on the faces of Pirates fans.
“Now go and win that cup final guys” he added.
