With only two games left and 3 points collected, Maritzburg United are up for a big task to keep their hopes of returning to the DStv premiership league alive.
The team of choice, having finished on the 15th in the DStv Premiership, still have another chance to save themselves after they failed to do so with seven victories from 30 matches.
PLAYOFFS PRESSURE MOUNTS ON MARITZBURG UNITED
Maritzburg United, who are under immense pressure have the destiny of their own status in their hands. The team of choice looks adamant to do the double against Casric Stars FC, having beat the Mpumalanga-based club 2-0 in their first game of the Promotional Playoffs at Harry Gwala Stadium.
Casric Stars FC failed to register a single point out of their already-played three matches, despite throwing everything they had. The believers have blown up the chances of advancing to the top-flight.
On the other hand, a win for Maritzburg United against Casric Stars FC would keep them in the race of the promotional playoffs, closing the gap on Cape Town Spurs, which is one foot away from gaining promotion to the DStv Premiership.
Cape Town Spurs under the leadership of coach Shaun Bartlett have stretched their lead to 6 points, clear off from Maritzburg United. This follows after they beat Casric FC 1-0 at home on Wednesday at Athlone Stadium. The Urban Warriors’ victory has sent chills and pressure to the Team of choice.
Furthermore, the Cape Side will visit Maritzburg United on the final day of the promotional playoffs to try secure promotion.
As such, the Team of choice will on Saturday battle it out with Casric Stars FC at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium to try to reduce the 6 points gap.
But anything less than a win against Casric Stars FC will send the Team of choice straight to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
