Unathi Nkayi and Connie Ferguson have one thing in common, and that is that a majority of their Instagram posts are dedicated to documenting their commendable fitness journeys over the years, and they have also intrigued their followers whilst at it.
A BRIEF INTRODUCTION
South Africa has two Laila Ali in the making. That’s radio and TV personality Unathi Nkayi and actress-turned-film producer Connie Ferguson. Both media personalities have continued to show their online followers just how seriously they take their fitness, and in the boxing ring to be precise.

UNATHI NKAYI BOXING
The radio personality began her fitness journey over a decade ago and has maintained a healthy lifestyle by simply just remembering why she started her fitness journey, East Coast Radio reported. She was quoted as saying,
“My daughter thought she was getting a younger sibling (which she still wants now) and would tell everyone how excited she was at the prospect. I had regressed with my body goals.”
The 44-year-old has since reportedly lost over 30 kg since starting her fitness journey. She was said to have advised anyone who wanted to make the same change as her, saying, “If you want it, you can have it.”
In one of her posts on her timelines, Nkayi can be seen in a gym, training with one of Randburg’s Virgin Active fitness trainers Julia Mashala. In the video, the media personality can be seen swinging all kinds of punches directed to her trainer. After watching Nkayi’s video, many of her Instagram friends and followers were proud to see her in her element. One impressed viewer even said that Nkayi was in “beast mode”.

CONNIE FERGUSON BOXING
Meanwhile, for Ferguson, her fitness journey helps with her mentally. She was said to suffered from chronic depression, East Coast Radio reported. The 52-year-old has gotten used to working out and seems to be enjoying putting her body through the tests. In an Instagram post, she said,
“Exercise is good for so many different reasons, but the reason I commit even when I don’t feel like it is because of its effect on my mental health.”
“It’s been years that I’ve been off antidepressants, and even in the most challenging times, I manage to stay off. Wake up, PRAY, exercise, and go about your day,” she added.
In one of her latest posts, Ferguson could be seen training with Midrand Fight Club’s fitness trainer Athi Dumezweni. Her Instagram is filled with them doing various exercises together, one of which is boxing. If you take a scroll on her page, you’d see that she’s managed to gain her ripped abs by swinging a few hard knockout punches straight towards him.
